The gizmo project
Project GIZMO is designed to assist members of the community to get to know and understand the use of electronic items such as-mobile phones, ipads, laptops, email, document production, internet, texting, facebook, etc. just to name a few. Project GIZMO is being conducted in partnership with Volunteering Western victoria.
Goals of the project
-Give young people an opportunity to volunteer in a meaningful way
-Provide opportunities for young and old people to develop respect for their differing skills
-Assist older people to use the telecommunications device they own
-Broaden the range of communication methods available to older people
-Give young and older people an opportunity to become confident and and discerning consumers of telecommunications devices and social media
-To enable young people to develop meaningful relationships with people in the local community.
-To increase the confidence of young people at risk, and assist in their re-engagement to learning and education.
